There was lots to hate this week.: But there were ten things to love
by docsmartypants

Ten things I love this week.

1) The Delays “You See Colours”
A CD I picked up in London, it has been really excellent for copy editing to. It’s upbeat enough to keep me going without being oppressively jolly.

3) UnrulyRedhead.com
The mighty queen of redheads blogs about her adventures in New York! Why does the site look suspiciously similar to mine? Because she’s using Larry’s tool (content management system tool that is–Kenneth, get your mind out of the gutter).

2) Berry Burst Cheerios
I really like the strawberry banana kind. Even though I know it sounds disgusting it really isn’t and when the weather is in the 90s I don’t feel like eating much more than cereal anyway.

4) The Doctor Who 2006 season finale
Sure it felt like having my heart ripped still-beating from my chest and thrown to a pack of rabid wolverines. Yes, it left a huge chunk of fans feeling dazed and depressed. But my oh my, such good entertainment!

5) Don’t Hassle the Hoff
Hasslehoff is back, this time with “Jump in my Car,” a song aimed at launching his musical career in Australia. You have to watch the whole video to be really sure, but yes, he is laughing at himself.

6) Hitler Cats
As Erin put it: “My cats already sort of scare me, and they don’t look anything like Hitler.”

7) Pet Shop Boys “Fundamental”
Love it. Absolutely love it. And how could you not love an album with a song called “The Sodom and Gomorrah Show”?

8) CostOfWar.com
OK, so it is pretty depressing, but fascinating all the same.

9) Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest
The best movie I’ve ever seen? No. But good clean summer fun and so very full of eye candy you barely notice the plot holes. You’ve got Johnny Depp being as outrageous as ever, and of course there’s Keira and Orlando for those of you that like that sort of thing. But I was pretty much all about what I like to call the “New and Improved Scruffy Commodore Norrington Hotness” (or just “the Norrington Hotness” for short).

10) The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents
One of the gazillion books written by Terry Pratchett, this won a Carnegie Award for Children’s Literature and doesn’t really feel like a children’s book at all. ]

Amen to the new & improved (now! with hotness!) Norrington. I think my timbers shivered.

OMG! Norrington is Steve from Coupling, one of the funniest BBC shows ever! He’s soooo NOT hot in that though … dirty pirate makeup does wonders for this man!

You didn’t know that was him?! I know, he SO doesn’t rock the hotness in Coupling, but he is hysterically funny. Doesn’t it just make you appreciate costume and makeup artists all the more? Praise be to the Norrington Hotness!

I want to have “The Amazing” grafted on to the front of my name.

would i have to educate a troop of rodents to do something Amazing to merit that moniker? it’s such a show-biz sounding thing that i imagine i’d need some circus-like skills to pull it off. i couldn’t be like, “The Amazing Lefty, and his Marvelous Flash-Simulating Javascript Workarounds!”

“The Amazing Lefty, and his Marvelous Flash-Simulating Javascript Workarounds!” Ooh, I like that! You should have that on your business cards.
