The Northern Lights

We just got back from the Northern Lights tour and I am exhausted. Despite some pretty iffy weather all day, we got a pretty clear night and were able to see the Northern Lights briefly. Neither of us got a good photo. It was very dark and difficult to see the camera well enough to fiddle with various settings. This will give you a vague idea of what we saw though:

It was very cold out, but it was nice to see the Lights for a few minutes. The impression we got from the tour guide (a strange little man who talked a lot about the Hidden People) was that we caught an OK show—not the best, not the worst. A woman on the bus said that several others groups this week hadn’t seen the Northern Lights at all, so I guess we were lucky.

And now I am going to bed because we have a full day tomorrow and need to be up early.

Arrived in Iceland

Hello! Stacey and I arrived safely in Iceland early this morning, and, after a dark, windy drive, a light breakfast, and a short nap, we spent most of the day in Reykjavik. We’re having a good time and enjoying the strangeness of everything around us. We’re supposed to go see the Northern Lights tonight, but if I have the energy when we get back from that I’ll try to give you an idea of what else we’ve seen so far.

In the meantime, here is a photo I took at the Culture House. Feel free to caption it as you see fit.
